Opterro, Inc. Completes Acquisition of Redondo Optics, Inc. (ROI)
A global nuclear energy reactor manufacturer has selected Opterro to supply end-to-end sensing solutions for multifunctional fiber-optic sensing applications.
Opterro’s family of distributed fiber-optic sensing products with onboard and cloud-based intelligent analytics has been recognized as Finalist for the Best of Sensors Award for 2021. This award highlights cutting-edge advancements and achievements that are moving the sensors industry forward.
Opterro’s iSense® distributed fiber-optic sensing interrogators won the “Best of Sensors 2020 Award” in the Data Acquisition & Analytics category for Most Innovative Product. The award, which recognizes products for market value, unique design, and impact, was given based on iSense®’s advanced capabilities. The iSense® family integrates a scalable temperature and strain sensing system with multiplexed Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors on an optical fiber and an ultra-fast interrogator. This system incorporates all-optical processing, electronics, algorithmic software, and data analytics layers, offering high-speed data acquisition from DC to 1.3 MS/s and beyond. Designed for applications in structural health monitoring, non-destructive evaluation (NDE), acoustic emission, and other advanced multi-sensor settings, iSense® provides powerful distributed photonic sensing across industries.
Opterro’s solutions are based on a comprehensive, expanding portfolio of over 50 issued patents and patent applications created at our sister company IFOS and licensed to Opterro. The strong IP portfolio includes its enabling technologies such as: massively-parallel photonic spectral processor (PSP), optical channel interleaving for dense spectral coverage, and sensor systems applicable across multiple industrial markets and applications.
Moreover, Opterro’s solutions benefit from a rich library of trade secrets covering a wide range of hardware, firmware, and software technologies and know-how, including: sensor design, fabrication, calibration, and deployment; digital signal processing for challenging measurements, and intelligent algorithms implemented in the interrogators’ algorithmic application-specific software to convert data into insight enabling decision aid.
Led by successful and innovative serial entrepreneurs, Opterro has assembled a world-class team with some of the best engineers (software, systems integration, photonics, optoelectronics, field service, and application engineering), physicists, data scientists, and signal processing specialists. The company benefits from the guidance of a distinguished Board of Directors and Advisory Board.
